Lukas Guenther - Partner - MD Start III
Lukas is a medical doctor, with a summa cum laude thesis in digital pathology from Charité Hospital in Berlin.
After training in General Surgery at the Universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg, Lukas was a Postdoctoral Scientist at the Novartis Center for Immunobiology, Harvard University, where he conducted preclinical research on protective genes. After a Fellowship as Organ Harvest Fellow at the Diabetes Institute, University of Minnesota where he participated in NIH-sponsored clinical trials, Lukas obtained an MBA degree from RSM Erasmus.
In 2007, Lukas joined the Life Science Investment Team at pan-European venture capital firm Wellington Partners where he over his tenure advanced to Investment Director. During his time at Wellington Partners, Lukas sourced and conducted due diligence on ca. 150 investment opportunities, of which 6 early stage medtech deals were translated into an investment by Wellington Funds. Notable examples are Sapiens, Invendo, and Quanta, where after investment Lukas supported as board observer or board member.
